We Believe

As a protestant, evangelical, full-gospel church affiliated with the Assemblies of God, we hold to the following Statement of Faith:

  • The Scriptures are inspired by God and declare His design and plan for mankind.
  • There is only One True God, revealed in three Persons - Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
  • ln the Deity of the Lord Jesus Christ. As God's Son, Jesus was both human and divine.
  • Though originally good, man willingly fell to sin, ushering evil and death (both physical and spiritual) into the world.
  • Every person can have restored fellowship with God through salvation, which is trusting Christ, through faith and repentance to be one’s personal Savior. (1 of 4 Cardinal Doctrines of the Assemblies of God)
  • There are two ordinances to be practiced by the church: (1) Water baptism by immersion in the Name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, after an individual has repented of sin and received Christ's gift of salvation, and (2) Holy Communion (the Lord's Supper) as a symbolic remembrance of Christ's suffering and death for our salvation.
  • The Baptism in the Holy Spirit is a special and unique experience which occurs subsequent to salvation and empowers believers for effective witness and service. (1 of 4 Cardinal Doctrines of the Assemblies of God)
  • The initial physical evidence of the Baptism in the Holy Spirit is speaking in tongues as experienced on the Day of Pentecost and referenced throughout Acts and the Epistles.
  • Sanctification initially occurs at salvation and is not only a declaration that a believer is holy but is also a progressive lifelong process of separation from evil as believers continually draw closer to God and become more Christ like.
  • The Church has a mission to seek and save all who are lost in sin. We believe the Church is the Body of Christ and consists of the people who, throughout time, have accepted God's offer of redemption through the sacrificial death of His Son Jesus Christ.
  • A Divinely called and scripturally ordained leadership ministry serves the Church. The Bible teaches that each of us, under leadership, must commit ourselves to reach others for Christ, to worship Him with other believers, to build up or edify the body of believers (the Church) and to meet human need with ministries of love and compassion.
  • Divine healing of the sick is available for Christians today and is provided for in Christ's atoning work. (His sacrificial death on the cross). (1 of 4 Cardinal Doctrines of the Assemblies of God)
  • The scripture speaks of a “Blessed Hope” when Jesus raptures His Church prior to His physical return to earth (the second coming). At this future moment in time all believers who have died will rise from their graves and will meet the Lord in the air, and Christians who are alive will be “caught up” with them, to be with the Lord forever. (1 of 4 Cardinal Doctrines of the Assemblies of God)
  • The scripture speaks of the millennial reign of Christ when Jesus returns, with His saints, at His second coming and begins His benevolent 1,000-year rule over earth. This millennial reign will bring the salvation of national Israel and the establishment of universal peace.
  • A final judgment will take place for those who have rejected Christ. They will be judged for their sin and consigned to eternal damnation in a punishing lake of fire.
  • The scripture speaks of the perfect “New Heavens” and “New Earth” that Christ is preparing for all people, of all time, who have accepted Him. We will live and dwell with Him there forever following His millennial reign on Earth. “And so shall we forever be with the Lord.”

Our Identity
  • We are Christian - We are a determinedly Christian church. We are built upon the person of Jesus Christ, the Son of God. The doctrines and practices of the church are based upon His teachings.
  • We are Protestant - We stand firmly for justification by faith, the priesthood of believers, the authority of the Bible, religious freedom, and the separation of church and state. We stand against abuses and extravagance of ecclesiastical ritualism and dogmatism.
  • We are Evangelical - Evangelical is the term used to describe those who affirm the primary doctrines revealed in the Scriptures. These doctrines include the inspiration and authority of the Word of God; the Trinity; the deity and virgin birth of Jesus Christ; salvation by faith in the atoning death of Christ; His bodily resurrection and ascension to the right hand of the Father; the ministry of the Holy Spirit; the second coming of Christ; and the spiritual unity of believers in Jesus Christ.
  • We are Pentecostal - In the early 1900s, early adherents to what would eventually become the Assemblies of God experienced a spiritual outpouring they identified as the baptism of the Holy Spirit. Because it was so similar to the experience of the early Christians on the day of Pentecost, it came to be called a Pentecostal experience, an enrichment of the Christian life through the power of the Holy Spirit that empowered believers to be effective witnesses of Christ. One of the distinctives of the Assemblies of God as a Pentecostal organization is its belief in speaking with other tongues as the Spirit gives the utterance and that this enablement is the initial, physical evidence of the baptism in the Holy Spirit.
  • We are Charismatic - We believe that the Spiritual Gifts, as defined in Scripture and as demonstrated in the activities of the early church, are still in operation today and are available to all believers for the edification and equipping of the church and for the glory of God.
